DAY 1-4Nothing happens on day one to four because you are too weak to do anything. You rely on you mother for food.

DAY 4-8On days four to eight, the last of the your feathers are growing however you sill need your mother for food.

DAY 8-13Here, on days eight to thirteen, your last feathers have grown and the you are learning how to fly. Your mother does this by circling the nest and getting you to come to her. You still need her to get your food.

DAY 13-18On days thirteen to eighteen, you are perfecting your flying skills and starting to learn how to catch food and which places are best to call home. You are able to catch small fish but still need your mother to catch most of your food.

DAY 18-24On days eighteen to twenty-four, you are able to fly strongly, catch food and know how to survive. Now tht your mother is done teaching you, she flies off and it is unlikely that you will ever see each other again.

Life in the NEST
Although kingfishes only spend 24 days in
the nest, it is here that they learn to fly, catch fish and learn everything that they need to know to survive.
